Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with serving as advisor to Board of Trustees and Township Administrator on matters concerning zoning / planning include: research projects, as requested; amendments to the text and map of the Township Zoning Resolution (preparing staff reports and hearing notifications, attend hearings concerning); maintenance of the Boards’ audio tape files.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with serving as secretary to the Township Zoning Commission include: drafting amendments to the text of the Township Zoning Resolution; consulting with amendment applicants; liaison to the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission (HCRPC) on proposed amendments; preparation of staff reports; preparation of meeting / hearing notifications; responding to inquiries on amendment requests; attending meetings thereof; preparation and maintenance of meeting minutes; maintenance of the map of the Township Zoning Resolution; maintenance of the Commissions’ data base and audio tape files.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with serving as secretary to Board of Zoning Appeals include: consulting with variance / special zoning certificate applicants; preparation of staff reports; preparation of meeting / hearing notifications; responding to inquiries on variance / special zoning certificate requests; attending meetings thereof; preparation and maintenance of meeting minutes; maintenance of the map of the Township Zoning Resolution; maintenance of the Board’ data base and audio tape files.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with zoning certificates include: responding to inquiries; consulting with applicants; receipt/processing of applications for, issuance of approvals, preparation / dissemination of letters concerning denials; maintenance of affected data bases.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with Zoning Certificates of Occupancy (certification of compliance for improvements made with respect to approved zoning certificates) include: receipt of requests for; inspections / processing of, issuance of approvals, preparation / dissemination of letters concerning denials; maintenance of affected data bases.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with zoning code violations include: responding to inquiries; receipt/documenting of complaints; inspection of alleged violating properties; mediation of observed violations; follow-up inspection of violation properties, as necessary; submit documentation (charges) to court, as necessary; appear in court as witness, as necessary; maintenance of affected data bases.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with nuisance code violations include: responding to inquiries; receipt / documenting of complaints; inspection of alleged violating properties; mediation of observed violations; follow-up inspection of violation properties, as necessary; submit documentation to Board of Trustees requesting nuisance declaration, as necessary; issuance of formal orders, as necessary; coordination of abatement by contractor, as necessary; filing of assessments, as necessary; maintenance of affected data bases.

Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with subdivision review, in conjunction with the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission (HCRPC; subdivision review / approval agency), include: consulting with applicants; written comments / recommendations to the HCRPC on proposed lot splits, preliminary plans, improvement plans and record plats; maintenance of the map of the Township Zoning Resolution.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with the administration of street light districts include: consulting with applicants; processing of petition materials submitted; preparation of hearing / bid notifications; attending all hearings concerning; preparation / execution / filing of assessment materials; monitoring expenditures / expenses; monitor contracts (9 existing); liaison to Duke Energy.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with the Hamilton County Home Improvement Program (HIP; coordinating/approval agency) include: project monitoring; inspections; written comments monitoring and inspections to the HIP); maintenance of affected data bases.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with census administration include: consulting with citizens/developers; pre-planning; liaison with Census Bureau and the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission (HCRPC). The HCRPC is the depository for the Township (County) census information.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with certification of zoning and/or land use classification include: receipt of such requests (via phone, letter or Email); research of department data bases / maps; making responses.
Responsibilities of the department in conjunction with mapping services includes: revisions to zoning base maps (to include amendments, variances, special zoning certificates, subdivisions, etc.); prints of zoning base maps (for departmental use, sale to the public); preparation/prints of base site plans (for use by zoning certificate applicants); preparation / prints of special map requests.
Responsibilities of the Director of Development Services in conjunction with department budgeting / purchasing include: preparation of proposed operating budget; preparation of proposed tax budget; monitoring of expenditures / expenses; processing of purchase orders; processing of bills for payment.
