Join us for National Night Out!
On Tuesday, August 3rd, Delhi Township is joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “27th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. The Delhi Township Police Department will be hosting the event with the assistance of the National Association of Town Watch and the event is sponsored by Target. National Night Out will involve over 10,000 communities from all over the United States. In all, over 34 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
National Night Out is an opportunity to get neighbors together and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police – community partnerships. The program is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for participation in local anti-crime programs, such as Neighborhood Watch, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are fighting back.
The Delhi Police Department will be hosting National Night Out on August 3rd, 2010, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the basketball courts at the north end of Delhi Park located at 5125 Foley Road. The police department encourages all to join them in a chance to meet police officers and firefighters, volunteers from the Delhi Citizens Police Association / Citizens on Patrol, Target Volunteers, and to send a message to criminals that “We are fighting back.” The police, fire, and maintenance departments will have their equipment on display and will have officers and firefighters on scene to answer any questions that you may have. The Delhi Civic Association has coordinated a free concert in the park featuring Chuck Brisben and the Tuna Project, sponsored by local businesses this same evening.
Residents are encouraged to turn on their front porch lights in support of the event and join us in the National Night Out, the largest annual crime prevention event.
Please join us for the fun, food, and entertainment!
